QUETZALCOATL
Quetzalcoatl, also known as the ‘feathered serpent’, was one of the main deities in Mesoamerican mythology. In the Aztec culture he was responsible for the creation of mankind, Lord of the West, God of Light, Justice, Mercy and Wind.

With an anatomy similar to the Loch Ness Monster or its Irish equivalent the sea-serpent allegedly spotted in Co Clare, I wanted to portray Quetzalcoatl as the Guardian of the West, a creature that rules Galway Bay and feeds from human sacrifices.
