Digital
Tour

For my MA in Digital Media final project I created a digital tour of Galway City. Using digital tools to create new playful interactions with physical spaces, I reimagined some of the most iconic places in the city.

The main purpose of this project is to present the demographic changes that Galway has been experiencing for the last decades.

Through a series of animations, I introduce some of the most popular Mexican Myths and Legends to the streets of Galway City.

I make strong connections between physical spaces and Mexican iconography to create a reinterpretation of Galway City. The tour is designed to help people explore the city and experience it in a unique way.

Even when most digital games use advance technologies such as VR headsets or visual recognition devices, new technology is not always the best solution. Additionally, traditional post service still plays a central role in Irish life and society. For those reasons,  I decided to use a postcard with embedded QR codes to give access to the tour. Finally,  having something physical  would also serve as a souvenir of the experience.

Animations

During my studies at NUIG, I collaborated with the University's Boxing Club, creating digital content for their social media channels, as well as designing posters for the club's events such as tournaments and recruiting days.

I also worked on the club's web design, for which I developed a functional prototype as part of an iterative process.

Having in mind the client's needs, which are to increase the number of members and announcing news related to the club,  I designed a website that is easy to navigate and contains relevant information, such as its history, upcoming events and recent achievements.

Boxing has very particular aesthetics that references an underground culture, a street lifestyle and the sense of being strong and “tough.”

Making emphasis  on the aesthetics, I focused on creating a visually appealing website that would help the club to grow and improve their online presence and gain credibility.

Working with different rust textures and rough edge elements I managed to merge the boxing visual style with the classic NUIG maroon.
